3 months and counting

Sorry it has been so long since we posted. Things have been hectic. I've been working a lot on my dissertation and Major's had to do some serious computing. Lucy is doing well. There have been a lot of changes over the past three weeks.

- Lucy can grab things now. Check it out in the photos (#46 is my favorite). The first thing she was able to grasp was the foot of her giraffe. After the first time she took it, she quickly figured out how to use her other hand to do the same thing and, to our amazement, to pass the giraffe's foot from one hand to the other. We weren't sure if she was ready to grab things yet or not because she was very tentative at first. She likes to consider her actions very carefully before she does them, but once she decides to do them she does them 100%. We haven't decided if she is right or left handed. She grabbed with her right hand first, but tends to manipulate things more with her left hand. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer to find out (she puts both hands in her mouth...depends on which one tastes better).

- She giggles. Alas, I've yet to figure out video posting, but Major promised to help me this weekend. Of course while we do have her snoring, we don't actually have her giggling yet. Grandma Sue's heard it on the phone, but besides Grandma Sue, Mommy, Tiva, and Daddy (one time) no one has else has heard this magical sound. You can't make her do it. Something is either funny or it's not and it is impossible to tell what's funny. Yesterday she started laughing when I bounced her on my knee, but I bounce her on my knee all the time and that is the only time it's ever made her laugh. Oh well, we'll get it on video eventually.

- She sits up (sort of). She can't roll over completely (can roll to her side), but if she is in an inclined position she can use her elbows to push herself up. She prefers to sit up like a big girl and refuses to lay down if she can help it. I guess she is tired of looking at the world from a horizontal position. I suppose it is a major milestone, but I'm sad :( My little baby's going to be in college before you know it.

- She talks a lot. Daddy can't watch TV with her anymore because she just talks to him the whole time. She's just like her Mommy. She has a lot to say. I'm pretty sure Daddy hears the same thing when we talk too...one long monosyllable of ahhhhhhhhhhh.

She looks so much like Major sometimes it is scary. Check out the newest batch of photos, specifically photo # 35. Sometimes she'll have an expression on her face and I think she is just the spitting image of her dad. Of course she has a little bit of her mom in her too. I say this because she sometimes looks a little bit like her cousin Austin who was the spitting image of me. Of course she looks the most like Austin when she sticks her bottom lip out to cry. Oh well. He was cute when he did it and she's cute when she does it.

The other big thing is the new crib. For those of you who haven't seen it, take a look and see what you think. It is a convertible and goes from a crib, to a toddler bed, to a daybed, to either a full or a twin (not sure...I always get those confused). The back part is the headboard, so I'm sure you can figure it out.

We had her first professional pictures taken this week. She refused to smile. We'll see how they came out :( Of course her next sitting is scheduled for six months, so hopefully we'll have better luck next time.

More soon.........
